AI chatbot on a company website: when does it pay off?
· 1 min read

More and more businesses in Norway and Poland are adding AI chatbots. These are not the old “press 1, 2, 3” bots but assistants that understand natural questions and reply in the customer's language: Norwegian, Polish or English.
A chatbot works best where customers keep asking the same things: opening hours, services, indicative prices, delivery times. Instead of waiting for an email, visitors get an answer in seconds, and you receive a ready lead with a phone number or email address.
The key is a well-prepared knowledge base: FAQ, service descriptions, indicative pricing, privacy policy and contact details. At Nettivo we connect chatbots to your site content and CRM so conversations land in the client panel or a salesperson's inbox. A bot does not replace a human for complex quotes, but it filters enquiries and books the follow-up.
Legal and security. Since 2 August 2026, Article 50 of the EU AI Act requires users to be clearly told they are talking to an AI system, ideally at the start of the chat. GDPR applies on top: say that the conversation may be stored, name the data controller and never ask for sensitive data (national ID numbers, card numbers). Vendors outside the EEA require a data processing agreement (DPA) and a valid transfer mechanism.
When does it pay off? When your site gets traffic but few enquiries and your team answers the same questions all day. Count monthly enquiries and handling time, then compare with the cost of implementation. Contact us (nettivo.no/kontakt) and we will show a demo and estimate the rollout for your industry.
